Lunar New Year Trip to Singapore and Maldives – Part 1: Singapore

My wife and I decided to go to Singapore and Maldives during the Lunar New Year holidays. We flew Singapore Airlines for this trip.  First off was a stopover to Singapore for a day and a night. The flight to Singapore on Singapore Airlines had great service, seating and food, along with a decent entertainment system with a wide selection of movies and television shows to watch along the way.

After landing in Changi Airport (SIN), we got through immigration pretty quickly and then met a good friend that we had planned to spend some time with in Singapore. We were hungry for some spicy laksa noodles so she took us to her favorite restaurant at the airport. The food was quite delicious.

After filling our tummies, we did some sightseeing. Our friend suggested we go to a place called Gardens by the Bay. Honestly, neither my wife nor I had heard of the place before but we were sure glad our friend suggested we go there. It turns out that it’s a beautiful place that I would consider a “must see” attraction for any visitor of Singapore. Below are some highlights:

For dinner, we went to Waterway Point Shopping Mall in the Punggol (榜鹅) area of Singapore. It’s in a newly developed, previously rural area of Singapore with new residential complexes and shopping facilities. We were at one of the branches of a popular Singaporean seafood chain called Uncle Leong Seafood. They’ve got some pretty good crab there, which I tried. Deeeelicious!

After eating, our lovely friend and her family dropped us off at our hotel and thus ended our day in Singapore.
