District Council Elections in Hong Kong

There is some form of democracy in Hong Kong and it takes place at the district level. Elections occur every 4 years in Hong Kong and the purpose is to elect representatives for the various district constituencies. There are 18 districts in Hong Kong which are divided into constituencies.

Tai Po is a district in the New Territories and it has 19 constituencies. Lam Tsuen is one of those constituencies. It’s a valley surrounded by low lying mountains and full of villages that go back many years. The Wishing Tree area is the heart and soul of Lam Tsuen and polling took place in an old youth center.

There were no photos allowed inside the polling building.

Well one thing’s for sure, the weather was superb so lots of people were able to come out and vote with ease.
